The Craft + Design Institute (CDI) and the Kingdom of the Netherlands in South Africa (#cocreateSANL), will host a series of monthly events to share knowledge and to create a space for debating ideas on South Africa’s biggest COVID-19 related challenges – we invite you to join us for the Creative Exchange.

The series builds on the #cocreateDESIGN FESTIVAL, which the CDI and Netherlands Consulate General in Cape Town have hosted since 2018. The Creative Exchange continues the Festival theme of 2020, which centred on the 4th Industrial Revolution, the use of design thinking, and digitally-enabled solutions.

Towards digital inclusion

23 - 25 February 2020

The #cocreateDESIGN FESTIVAL 2020 will provide us with a platform to create awareness of and showcase the application of innovation and design led approaches in various contexts that connects stakeholders, builds collaboration and solution seeking efforts and in so doing supports inclusive digital development.

#cocreateDESIGN FESTIVAL Cape Town 2019 puts focus on resilient communities and citizen-led solutions

The adverse shocks and stresses being experienced by people and communities in cities across Africa are becoming fiercer, more complex and more intertwined. Navigating these challenges – and finding long-lasting solutions – requires a broad-based societal commitment to co-design solutions that lead to healthier and more resilient African cities and communities.

The #cocreateDESIGN FESTIVAL is a new initiative of The Netherlands Consulate General which aims to celebrate and examine the power of design to tackle current socio-economic and environmental challenges within an African context. In collaboration with The Craft and Design Institute and Future Cape Town, the first edition of the initiative will be hosted under the theme “Beyond the Crisis.”
