As a follow up to the signing of a MoU in 2017, the partnership between The Royal Dutch Football Association (KNVB) and its WorldCoaches programme, the Netherlands Consulate General through its national campaign #cocreateSA and the Nelson Mandela Foundation will host a series of activities for the 2018 Mandela 100 Legacy Project. The initiative forms part of the ‘Football and Social Development post World Cup 2010 and on to 2020 agenda'.
CAPE TOWN (1 December 2017) - 2018 marks the year that Nelson Mandela would have celebrated his 100th birthday. In celebration of his ongoing legacy, the Mandela Foundation, the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Royal Dutch Football Association (KNVB) and various South African and Dutch partners will gather at the Workshop 17 in the V&A Waterfront on 1 December 2017 to present the Mandela 100 Project.
Even though our countries differ, there are many parallels in the public and cultural debates on identity, integration and transformation. Our long term cultural policy is therefore focused on co-creating cultural interventions to build mutual understanding and trust.
